tasting notes
Grown in cool Coombsville area, it can attain optimum ripeness and maintain healthy acidity. Merlot is frequently the main component in many of our Mosaiques but when it is complete on its own, it deserves to be featured. Merlot grape has received less respect than most red varietals but in some parts of the world, it is the shining star. While it shows the characteristic perfumy, dark cherry fruit, it is unusually dark, full bodied and complex. It shows notes of mocha, tobacco and orange rind and vanilla. It will be interesting to see how it turns out with a few years of bottle age. We suspect it will age gracefully like most of our Mosaiques.
